Origami Ad
Background
During my senior year of high school I took the fascinating course that is AP Psychology. We spent several weeks reviewing the fundamentals of psychology in relation to advertising, and the effect of certain techniques on the consuming public. For our final project we created advertisements for an either real or imaginary product, incorporating the principals and techniques we had learned. I elected to do an ad for a piece of technology. I picked a real product, the Samsung Q1, altered its core features, changed the name, and lowered the price tag considerably (our products didn't have to be entirely realistic).
Objective
Our advertisement needed to incorporate at least three of the following common subliminal advertising tactics: "foot in the door", "door in the face", "low ball", "that's not all", "limited time offer", color theory, and subliminal sexual references. My goal was to utilize these techniques and integrate them seamlessly into my advertisement.
Technologies
Innovative Techniques
- "That's not all"
- "Limited time offer"
- Use of color to suggest healthful/beneficial properties
- Super sneaky subliminal sex references
